After recently returning home from another camping trip with the family, I find myself thanking those who still have the wisdom to allow the wonderful experience of camping to be enjoyed with its most valuable trapping - the humble campfire.
On this most recent trip, a second family ventured along with us for what was their first ever camping trip and to say that they enjoyed the nightly sit around the fire would be an understatement. In fact, they are busy planning where their next adventure will be!
But the main thing that struck them was how rare a campsite that allows open fires must be and that their days must surely be numbered. This got me thinking. As I generally return to the same trusted camping grounds that I know I can set a campfire up in, I am probably missing out on some great destinations. So I thought I'd kick off this blog so that others like me can share their treasured grounds with eachother. One of the other reasons I have created this blog is that in all honesty, I find it a real challenge to get any decent information on sites that allow fires in the normal tourist publications including any from within state government parks authorities.
So here goes. Let's see if together, we can share our experiences and help one another venture further into this great backyard of ours around the comfort of a crackling, cozy fire!
